Ida Camburn

Ida Camburn has been heavily involved in the anti-religious movement since the 1970s. She worked closely with one of the founders of the infamous anti-religious group, the Citizens Freedom Foundation, and has associated with Margaret Singer, a psychologist known for her anti-religious and unscientific theories.

As early as 1977, in retribution for her son’s choice of religion, Camburn fed false information on Scientology to the media and, in that same year, wrote to a number of agencies about her son’s involvement in Scientology, including the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Clearing House for Mental Health. Both organizations promote brutal psychiatric “treatments” which the Church of Scientology opposes. The mental health agencies were no doubt more interested in Camburn’s state of mind than her allegations.
